Need Help Understanding {IF {REF}} Fields

Question

I need assistance on how to create an IF REF based on a formdropdown selection but multiple selections can have the same result . For example if you select from the dropdown: "A" or "B" or "C" then the result would be "result 1", but if you select "D" or "E" or "F" then the result would be "result 2". I only know very little when it comes to creating forms. Thanks.
