Hi,

Installed vs 2019 community, the ssrs visx add in, and sql server reporting services, enabled IIS, can see Reporting Services started in Task Manager. Now when I try to run a report in the Visual Studio 2019 SSRS editor it asks for a user name and password. It's not a complicated environment, there is only one admin userid on the windows 10 machine that I know of. That userid doesn't seem to work either with the password or the pin. What userid is it looking for?

    Hi @Flash Gordon ,
I think I know what you were facing now. Did you mean a pop out box from the browser , right ?

This is asking for the credential to log in the report web portal. When hit the "start" button, this needs a prerequisite that the web portal is well functioning (this requires a report server database). So the scene we faced before is logical.

If we really want to view the report without a report server database, you could click the preview tab in the VS design page. This allows us to view the report directly in VS

    Regards,
    Joy

It wants the credentials to access the report's data source.

Then it may not be a shared data source but instead an embedded source.

This happened because I didn't have a reportserver database. When i added a reportserver database in Report Services Configuration Manager, everything started working. You have to select Change Database in the Database tab for it to add a ReportServer database.
