Hi,

I tried to push the SCCM client to 30 new devices and most of them successfully installed the client. Only 2 Dell devices failed to install the client. Got below error in the log:

GetDPLocations failed with error 0x80072f8f

Failed to get DP locations as the expected version from MP

How can I install SCCM client on these devices? Thanks for your help in advance!

    Hello StiFenclii,

How are you installing the SCCM client? Does your devices in the same subnet?

Can you try manual installation using the following command:

    CCMSetup.exe /mp:ConfigMgr-server.domain.local SMSSITECODE=PS1 /NoCRLCheck

For more details, you can refer to my blog post:

    Hi,

Thanks for posting in Microsoft MECM Q&A forum.

1,The error 0x80072f8f means "A security error occurred". We can try to see if the manual installation works on these 2 devices. If yes, please check if any antivirus or security software is blocking the communication between the server and client.

2,Please check your boundaries and boundary groups configurations, and associate your MPs and DPs to the boundary groups. Make sure the client can communicate with the MPs and DPs.

3,Please review the ccm.log and ccmsetup.log to see if there is any further information. For more detailed troubleshooting steps, please refer to the helpful article:

Thanks for your time. Have a nice day!

    Best regards,

    Simon
