Sharepoint Document Library does not load anymore in MS Teams (Desktop) - How to fix issue?

Hello everyone

Since last week we have the following issue:

Our tabs with Sharepoint Document Libraries in the MS Teams Desktop app do not load anymore. User's image

Further details:

  • Does only affect the MS Teams Desktop App. In the web version it's still working.
  • Default tab "Files" and Sharepoint Site are still working.
  • Does only affect Document Libraries. If you choose lists or sites, the tab is loading.
  • Does affect multiple users in the organization, but not everybody at the same time.
  • If a user has the problem, it's affecting all document libraries across all Teams.

Temporary fix:

  • Clearing the teams cache will fix the problem for some days. After some time, the problem will occur again.

Does anybody know how we could fix the issue? There is no issue reported on the MS health status page.

    Hi Tobias Diethelm ,since the issue is widespread, I would recommend opening a support ticket and then Microsoft backend engineers will investigate the issue. You can raise support ticket from http://aad.portal.azure.com/ or https://admin.microsoft.com/#/support/requests.

    Hello Everyone.

    Since it is suspected that this issue was caused by an update, I decided to try and remove the cache of Teams, since this apparently worked for other issues. And it worked! It will reset some configuration like the theme used, but I haven't seen any other "undesirable effects". Try it out and if it also works for you then is a simple solution.

    Hello everbody

    Today I updated the teams application to the new version 1.6.00.18681 (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/teams-app-versioning). At the moment, the problem seems to be resolved. Hopefully the problem will not occur again.

    We have seen this in a couple of our customers. It is definitely due to having multiple versions of Teams installed. Now we just need to figure out how to get Microsoft to push the same version out (New Teams vs current "released" version.)

    The Document Library app has been deprecated by Microsoft and you should now use the SharePoint app.
