Azure, separated tenants, document management

Hi together,

I have a question in the context of a document management approach.

Circumstances:

  • 3 tenants separated from each other (A,B,C).
  • one tenant of them (tenant A) contains all documents (documentations, processes, forms etc.) on a sharepoint website (let's call it QMH) which is not allowed to be public.

Objectives:

As an employee in tenant "B", I want to be able to open all documents in QMH in tenant "A" with my M365 login (tenant B).

As a content manager in tenant "A" I would like to manage the QMH only in one place, in tenant "A" and make it automatically available to the users from the other tenants "B" and C.

Is there an Azure AD feature or other functionality in a tenant that enables such processes? Without manual effort (user management, manual approvals, etc.)

Many thanks

Regards,

Patrick

    Hi Patrick,

The easies way it will be to invite the users from tenants B and C to tenant A. If it's about a limited number of u users you can invite them as guests into tenant A and give them access to the needed resources. Find more info here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/external-identities/b2b-quickstart-add-guest-users-portal

If you need a more streamlined approach for a longer collaboration between tenants, then you can look into cross-tenant access and cross-tenant synchronization - please check the two links below:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/external-identities/cross-tenant-access-settings-b2b-collaboration

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/multi-tenant-organizations/cross-tenant-synchronization-configure

When choosing the right solution for giving access of external users to internal resources read the pros and cons for each method.
