What are differences between dotnet, mono-mdk-for-visual-studio, .Net CLI on macos?

Question

I wanted to develop a C# project on MacOS, but a couple of packages need to be installed on my system like dotnet, mono, SDK, >Net CLI.

It seems that a developing needs an IDE and SDKs but, what are the other stuffs?
