Hi Experts,

Azure synapse SQL backup only support LRS or GRS. But due to data restrictions, there is a need for me to achieve only ZRS, which will provide me the zone level redundancy.

Could someone please suggest what is the best way to achieve this?

any suggestion or pointers should be appreciated.

    Hello Saha,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A platform.

When creating Dedicated SQL Pool, Geo-backup is automatically enabled, meaning data is placed on RA-GRS (Read Only Geographically Redundant Storage).

To verify this, check 'Geo-backup policy' of the Dedicated SQL Pool after creating SQL Dedicated SQL pool,

And we don't provide any customization options. The only thing customers can select is whether to enable geo-backup or not in the Dedicated SQL pool.

As synapse dedicated SQL pool is not a Zonal resource. we can't achieve ZRS on the dedicated SQL pool.
