Transfer Window server 2016 to new server

Hi Mr./Mrs.

My exiting server hardware fail, it installed with windows server 2016 operation system. ( I still have the license activation code)

I wish to move my exiting windows server 2016 license to the new server.

Can you provide me the instruction? how to do it?

You can simply active the new one as below.

slmgr /ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
slmgr /ato

You can transfer your Windows Server 2016 license to the new server. You will need to deactivate the license on the old server first. Then, you can activate the license on the new server. Here are the steps to deactivate the license on the old server:

1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
2. Type "slmgr /upk" and press Enter. This will uninstall the product key from the old server.
3. Type "slmgr /cpky" and press Enter. This will clear the product key from the registry.

After deactivating the license on the old server, you can activate it on the new server by following these steps:

1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
2. Type "slmgr /ipk <product key>" and press Enter. Replace <product key> with your Windows Server 2016 product key.
3. Type "slmgr /ato" and press Enter. This will activate the license on the new server.
