Azure Front Door and app service domain

Hello Team,

I have configured azure front door with 2 app service in the backend. I would like to configure APP Service domain NOT custom domain to be used with azure front door.

How can we achieve it?

Can we create it under Front door or we need to go under each APP service?

I have done it I believe a year ago more or less.

first make sure that your app.azurewebsites.net domain is a publicly resolvable.

and you can use it directly in the Azure Front Door backend pool configuration.

Under AFD Designer --> Frontend hosts --> add a frontend domain: "enter the default domain of your Azure App Service"

Under Backend pools --> create a new backend pool "add a backend using the Azure App Service domain (e.g., yourapp.azurewebsites.net) as the address."

Under Routing rules, map the frontend host to the backend pool.

The App Service must be set to allow all incoming traffic.

Also, beware that I had some issues using https! in my case it was an internal application, so the team was fine with just http.

Thanks but the interface has changed completely , as there is no AFD designer but routes and origin. Also my app is public facing.

Interesting :) as mentioned it was over a year, I can look into our exiting one now and let you know how it's configured.
