When is the cell count in the status bar going to be corrected to show count of empty cells as well as populated cells. This functionality was broken in the 2013 version and remains broken.

Question

The cell count displayed on the status bar at the bottom of the screen is no longer accurate as of Excel 2013. It only increments and displays the count for populated cells. This is a bug that was introduced in Excel 2013, has been reported to Microsoft multiple times by multiple people (a quick Google search reveals many complaints), and remains broken.

• If I select 4 unpopulated cells, the count is not desplayed at all. Even the label is oddly missing.
• If I select 4 populated cells, the count is displayed correctly as 4.
• If I select 2 populated cells and 2 unpopulated cells, the count is displayed incorrectly as 2.

When will a fix be available for this bug?

I tested this behavior and I can reproduce this problem. As the articlesaid:

The Count not count the cells but the non-blank values.
