We are unable to print any kind of documents in our system at the moment. this is the error code. We are not getting response out of support. A call to

Microsoft.Dynamics.Nav.DocumentReport.WordReportManager.MergeWordDocument failed with this message: Unrecognized root element in Core Properties part. Line 2, position 2.

The workaround was to use Send to... and choosing Microsoft Word Document. and print from MS Word.

On further examination it appears that we were able to print the documents from the built-in report layouts but not from our custom report layouts. However, it was just a workaround and not a permanent solution.
