As I understood you need to set a quota for the folder.

yes you can do that using File Server resource manager. It comes under File and Storage Services server role

once you installed that you can configure the quota

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/fsrm/quota-management

but the problem is if you want to have 500GB per each folder then you don't have enough size in the 1TB disk.

    Hi @Winston Huang

Yes, you can set a quota of 500 GB for each shared folder under a disk size of 1 TB. However, you need to use the auto apply quota feature in Quota Management, which allows you to automatically generate quotas for subfolders on a volume or folder.

To use the auto apply quota feature, you need to follow these steps:

    • Create a quota template that specifies the 500 GB limit and the desired actions, such as sending notifications or generating reports, when the limit is reached or exceeded.
    • Create an auto apply quota on the root folder of the disk, and select the quota template that you created in the previous step.
    • The auto apply quota will automatically create a quota for each existing subfolder under the root folder, and also for any new subfolders that are created later.

    Hope the information is helpful.

    Best Regards,

    Hania Lian
