Hi,

Just want some guidance on Internal Active Directory DNS configuration,

i feel like i have read a lot of things already but don't see similar results as in my company and the people that configured it left.

at the company

we have a Parent Zone that's AD Integrated and replicates to all 10 Child Domains.

Example of the configs (only doing a few).

contoso.com (Parent)

toyspin.contoso.com (Child)

Apple.contoso.com (Child)

Peanut.contoso.com (Child)

underneath the Parent DNS zone, it contains all Child DNS Zones, with there LDAP/Kerberos records in there respective folders, so that Ldap/Kerberos works everywhere for each child if the try to go to a different domain.

in my Lab, i can't replicate the same configuration.

If i create a Delegated zone, it creates it as a Greyed Folder under the parent with a record of the domain controller for the domain.

When i right click the Parent domain and create a Domain underneath the parent it only creates an A record, and I cant add NS records, i mostly need the LDAP/Kerberos SRV records to resolve on both the Parent and Child domains, as currently i am not getting it to work.

is there another DNS config i am missing.
