Hyper-V datacenter

Hello,

As we know if we build Hyper-V using Windows datacenter, we can have unlimited VMs guest with no extra windows license. I just want to know the VM guest no need license is if the guest using same windows datacenter edition or any version is free as long the hyper-v host running in datacenter version?

    Hi,

    The operating system version of the Hyper-V host determines which versions of operating system can be activated in a virtual machine. Here are the guests that the different version hosts can activate:

    Server host version Windows Server 2022 guest VM Windows Server 2019 guest VM Windows Server 2016 guest VM Windows Server 2012 R2 guest VM
    Windows Server 2022 X X X X
    Windows Server 2019 X X X
    Windows Server 2016 X X
    Windows Server 2012 R2 X
