Is it common for printed (saved as pdf) documents to disappear from the location saved after deleting the download from the Microsoft Edge Downloads?

After saving (used the print option and saved as a pdf) documents from a web page while using Microsoft Edge, they have disappeared from the saved file location after I went to Downloads in the Microsoft Edge browser and hit delete on the downloads. Why wouldn't the pdf's still be saved in the file location?

Hi @John L,

Based on my research, if you hit delete on the download list, the file will be deleted from your computer.

It is effective for all downloaded files and it's a default feature on edge.

Also, you could try to go to the edge://downloads/ to delete files and it will only delete the download history.

Thank you for the response. At least this lets me know what happened to them. I find this to be contradictory and very disturbing. If you click save and save a download to a particular file of your choice or hit print and save it as a pdf to a file of choice, this should show/prompt the system to never auto delete from that file unless we do it, even if we want to remove/delete it from the 'downloads list' to keep the downloads list to a minimum or to keep others to see what was downloaded but still need to keep the actual 'saved' file.

Any way to recover these files? I looked in Trash and didn't see them.

Hi @John L,

Do you see the deleted download history if you visit edge://downloads/all in edge?

The download item shows 'removed' but retained the original url for downloading again, you could go to the url to download it again.

You can also provide feedback to Edge team to suggest them to add a feature (show/prompt the system to never auto delete from that file unless we do it, even if we want to remove/delete), by using Send feedback button (Alt+Shift+I) in Edge browser.

Who is the mental midget who thought this would be a good idea? It is beyond idiotic. Most of the files that I thought were saved on my hard drive have been deleted when I cleared them from the downloads folder. If I wanted to delete them, I would go to the folder that I saved them in and do so. Microsoft is sh1t. Do you really wonder why most people hate Microsoft so much? Dumb fvcks.
