Password reset user flow results in An account could not be found for the provided user ID

One of my clients is using Azure B2C local accounts to authenticate for private desktop application. They have been using it for 3 or more years. It does not using a sign_up_sign_in user flow instead the application owner adds new Azure B2C Users via the Azure portal and then the application uses a sign_in (email) user flow.

We recently rolled out a new (recommended) sign_in user flow to enable MFA and self-service password reset. Now when some users try to reset their passwords they are faced with an error message "An account could not be found for the provided user ID" when they click the Continue button after entering their email address.

I cannot find any reason for this so any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Issue: Unable to reset password using Password reset user flow. Error says "An account could not be found for the provided user ID".

Solution: The impacted accounts not created as Azure AD B2C Local accounts but simply as Azure AD Accounts. So the behavior was expected.

I have resolved this. The two accounts that were affected and not been created as Azure AD B2C Local accounts but simply as Azure Accounts.

    Hi,

I am facing similar issue. We have AAD B2C with local accounts. We have enabled the "Self-service password reset" for the user flow. However on the password reset page the following error occurs after email verification "An account could not be found for the provided ID"

Uploaded image We can't figure out the the reason.
