Why can't File History select robocopied file history?

  1. I created a large storage space and attempted to relocate "File History" to the new storage space, the file history app failed to move my backup data correctly and I was advised to use robocopy.
  2. I then attempted to turn on file history using the new drive and was met with a "Can't associate" error.
  3. I attempted to create a new file history in the new storage space but the file history app will only allow a selection of one of several robocopied data sets.
  4. Please advise

    Hello

Thank you for your question and reaching out.

If you want to mirror a directory tree, try "Robocopy /MIR". It automatically skips identical files. Keep in mind that the extra files are also deleted from the destination folder. The "WindowsImageBackup" and "FileHistory" folders can be synced from a different drive.
