How to limit MS Clarity recordings to a single SharePoint (root) site

We set up MS Clarity on our corporate intranet, using the instructions for single-site set up in here, using PowerShell: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/clarity/third-party-integrations/sharepoint-integration#add-clarity-to-a-specific-sharepoint-site

This is the root SharePoint site for the organisation so has a URL that will be the foundation of all the other organisation sharepoint sites we have.

The installation has worked in that all recordings are for sessions that start from the intranet site, but if the user navigates off the intranet and into another SharePoint site, we continue to see this journey. There are privacy issues around this as some SharePoint sites in the organisation are private.

How can we limit the recordings, so they don't continue to record when the user navigates away from the intranet and into another part of our SharePoint estate?

    Hi @Alex Douglas,

Thank you for posting in this community.

One way to limit the recordings on Microsoft Clarity is to use the exclusion filters feature, which allows you to exclude certain filters instead of including them. For example, you can exclude the pages that are not part of your intranet by using the path filter and selecting the option “Exclude selection”. This will prevent Clarity from recording sessions that visit those pages. You can learn more about how to use exclusion filters in this article. Alternatively, you can also use custom tags to label the pages that are part of your intranet and then filter the sessions by those tags. You can find out how to create and use custom tags in this article.
