Disable Teams Approval template for end users

Question

Is there a way we can disable/restrict template usage under Approvals app in Teams. We want to let users use Approvals app on Teams but we do not want them to create Templates publish it on Teams they own.

To disable the Teams Approval template for end users, you can follow these steps:

1. Open the Microsoft Teams admin center.
2. Go to the "Teams apps" section.
3. Click on "Permission policies" or "App permission policies" (depending on your Teams admin center version).
4. Select the policy that is assigned to the end users you want to disable the Approval template for.
5. Under the "Microsoft Teams" tab, scroll down and find the "Manage apps" section.
6. Locate the "Approvals" app and set its permission to "Not allowed."
7. Save the changes to apply the policy.

By setting the permission for the "Approvals" app to "Not allowed" in the assigned policy, you effectively disable the Teams Approval template for the end users covered by that policy.

Based on my research, you cannot restrict users to create templates but you can control which templates people in this policy can see by showing them or hiding them.

1. Sign in to the Teams admin center.
2. Go to Teams > Templates policies.
3. Choose Add.
4. Give the policy a name and add a short description.
5. In the Viewable templates list, select the templates you want to hide, and then select Hide.
6. Choose Save. Your new templates policy is displayed in the Templates policies list.
