My Outlook app (version 4.2334.1) on iOS 16.6.1 shows folders and subfolders that do not (no longer) exist on the local Exchange server. I do not use Microsoft 365. None of the folders is being displayed in OWA nor in Outlook on Windows. The person who is in charge of administer the local Exchange server and the Windows installation does not have an idea what could be causing the problem. An installation of Outlook on macOS using the respective email account does not exist.
Neither resetting the account in Outlook for iOS solves the problem, nor deleting the account in Outlookk for iOS, nor deleting and reinstalling the app with a restart of the iPhone in the meantime.
Where do the folders that do not (or no longer) exist and are displayed in the app come from? And how do I delete these folders?

You can download the MFCMAPI tool to see if the problematic folders can be found there. If they do exist when you check it using MFCMAPI, you can follow the instructions in the link below to delete these unwanted folders:

MFCMAPI did not found the folders.
The in-app-support I have been contacting multiple time with no reaction by Microsoft.
So I'll now contact the dedicated forum for Outlook mobile app. - Addendum: I was just informed that, in the meanwhile, my post at the forum for Outlook mobile app has being deleted by a moderator.

In addition, I read from this link that when removing an account from Outlook for iOS, there's an option of "From Device & Remote Data", have you tried selecting this and then readding the account to check the result?
If possible, you can also try adding the account to another iOS device as this can help narrow down whether it's an issue with the particular device.
Then please understand that actually the "Outlook" tag is for general questions about Outlook desktop clients on Windows or Mac, so I am afraid I can hardly continue helping with this issue on Outlook for iOS. Given this, personally I'd suggest trying to stick with the forum for Outlook mobile or try again contacting the in-app support for further assistance. Thanks!
