If this issue only happens when messages reach 30 days old, please use Content Search to see if you can find the missing messages in other folders of the mailbox.
If this mailbox doesn't have any retention policy assigned and no archive mailbox enabled, please also have a check if it has AutoArchive setup in Outlook.
