I have a P3v2 service plan with 1 Manual instance: why App Insights show two machine name?

Hi,

if I go on app insights and I clicks Roles, I can see there are two different machine name collecting data on a single Service App:

The fact is: I've a P3v2 service plan with 1 Manuel instance:

How that's possible? How can I see thich plan/app are those machine? It doesn't make sense.

Hey Marco - Azure app service has periodic planned maintenance (you can get notified of this and see the history) more info here https://azure.github.io/AppService/2022/02/01/App-Service-Planned-Notification-Feature.html

if you take a look at the telemetry time stamps (in Log Analytics) what I would expect you to see is an overlap so for example pd1 spins up pd1 and pd0 run side by side for a short period and then pd0 is removed leaving you with one instance again

This is the most likely cause in my opinion. But, one of my support colleagues that monitor this Q&A channel may be able to comment further

I would add that whilst 1 instance is Ok and you will get an SLA - from a "HA or High Availabilty" standpoint we always recommend 2-3 instances for more info see https://learn.microsoft.com/en-gb/azure/well-architected/services/compute/azure-app-service/reliability
