I have a container in cosmos db which is getting used frequently in the application, i have provided Throughput as 400 Rus as of now along with required indexing policy , i want to know how can i give the correct number of RUs to container so that the performance is ideal , is there a way in cosmos db to get these details ? or any other way ?
Hi @siddharth bansal Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
if there is already an account set up you can find by going to Metrics -> Setting the metric to Total Request Units -> The Locale to 30 days -> Aggregation to Max. And then add a filter for the container you want to measure. The max figure is the highest consumed RU's Metric
When the Max is identified, you can base your Allocated RU's on that container

Hi @GeethaThatipatri-MSFT , i followed the steps you mentioned , but it didn't helped me much , since the max of 30 days is coming to be very less , since not much operations were performed ,i came across the capacity calculator for cosmos , will it help me ? https://cosmos.azure.com/capacitycalculator/can you suggest how to fill in the required parameters there , like item size , point read etc

@siddharth bansal you can use these metrics to see the individual operations that are causing the RU's select Total Requests as the metric and select apply splitting and filter by Operation
