We are getting numerous calls this week about users seeing hundreds of Edge and Teams icons on their desktop. Our fix is to unlink One drive for now or unsync the desktop. How do we permanently fix this. We use Intune (Endpoint Manager) and Azure.

I am not aware of any ongoing issue. I’ll suggest to open a support case with MS to investigate this. In the past, these kind of issues were experienced due to edge\teams\defender updates. Also, if you want then you can run a script to clean up the icons on the desktop.

Just a quick google would have told you that many organizations are experiencing this issue. Answers is so, so bad that it makes me long for the days of Technet.
