Hello,

I asked this question in the Microsoft Community and was directed here. I have a user that is attempting to have an internal automatic reply message get delivered to a distribution list, but it fails with the message in the title. External automatic replies are being delivered to the distribution list with no issues. This doesn't seem to be caused by a transport rule. We're running a hybrid setup and this distribution list was created on premise. I have also set the reportToOriginator attribute to true. Would anyone be able to assist?

To help us test it, could you explain the scenario here? Is there an internal user (User1) who created OOF, and another user (User2) who has distribution list” send as "permissions sent an email to User1, triggering User1's OOF? Returned to DL? In addition, could you provide a complete screenshot of the Message trace event?

Sure thing. I have an internal user that has an OOF set. They're included in an email with a distribution list address. When someone replies to the thread, everyone else on the email gets the auto response except members in the distribution list. The test was done some time ago so I will need to get another test/trace done. It could be either today or tomorrow before I'm able to post a screenshot of the trace.
