Hello,

Hoping you all can help me resolve this vexing issue. I deleted a Linux VM and checked to also delete the associated resources within the resource group. The force delete option was grayed out because the osdisk is page blob storage . There were no errors after deleting and saving. The VM is stopped and deallocated but all the resources are present 24 hours later. Within the storage the pageblob osdisk is leased and has an infinite lease and is locked. I have owner role to all objects within this RG. How can I resolve this issue - deleting the RG isn't an option as it contains production resources.

Thanks!

    Hello, thanks for the response.

I resolved the issue - below are additional details in case others experience this issue perhaps they they can "self serve."

Within the portal UI storage account container you can see the lease status. There is a button to break break the lease - which I did. I then:

    • deleted the VM's public IP resource.
    • disassociated the vnic from the NSG and the VN

*Note: whent here is only a single vnic, it cannot be removed separately from the VM

    • Within VM properties, I selected delete Network interface but not the OS Disk ( part of blob storage account)

*Note even with a lease broken you cannot use the force option when osdisk is blob)

    • Within storage account delete all contents
