I received the notification that I need to update. I'm running Azure AD Connect synchronization services version 1.4.18.0. I'm only using Azure AD to provision and maintain password synchronization for Microsoft 365 accounts. We used it so our users have one password for office and logging into their domain workstations. The Azure AD Connect software is running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 server. Our domain controllers are running Windows Server 2012 R2, but at a functional level of Windows Server 2003. I see a couple of options for using the cloud sync or the new version of Microsoft Entra Connect Sync. I'm unsure which I should choose. Should I move to manually provisioning accounts in Microsoft 365? We only have around 45 users. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Microsoft Entra
Microsoft Entra ID
Microsoft Entra ID
A Microsoft Entra identity service that provides identity management and access control capabilities. Replaces Azure Active Directory.

    Solution:

To resolve your issue, you installed Microsoft Entra Connect Sync on your VM and worked with our support teams to ensure everything was correct.

I ended up installing Microsoft Entra Connect Sync on a Windows Server 2022 VM I created. I also consulted with Microsoft support and they checked things out to make sure it was good.

I would install and use the CLoud Sync Agent instead if that is your only requirements:
