Update your Microsoft Entra Connect Sync - What's going to happen?

We have Office365 (I manage the licenses on the office.com portal) and I see AD Connect (didn't mess with it, because I picked up after someone and many documentations missing) I believe it syncs AD objects to the cloud? how can I check if it's enabled/working?

note: Whenever I create a user ID on the AD (local server), the user is then available on office.com so I can assign an Office license for them to use the email + other services.

We're also using Azure Backup (pay as-you-go) service and it's been running fine.

Now, we're running Windows 2012 and the minimum requirements to upgrade to Entra is 2016. What's going to happen if we can't upgrade just yet?

Thank you

Hi @Alnasheet Thank you for reaching out to us, As I understand you are looking for details about Upgrading Microsoft Entra Connect Sync notification.

Would recommend you to upgrade at earliest, On October 1, 2023, Azure AD cloud services will stop accepting connections from Azure AD Connect V1 servers, and identities will no longer synchronize. You need to migrate to cloud sync or connect sync V2.

To answer your query - how can I check if it's enabled/working?

Please navigate to this section of Azure AD/Microsoft Entra ID (as mentioned in the below screenshot), will provide all details like Server name which is being used to sync the objects/time when last synced/more configuration related to password sync/pass through authentication.
