Data Reliability with Intune - General Expectations

Hi Community,

I'm an agent that uses Intune vs. an Admin. I'm attempting to find Microsoft's official policy on the data reliability expectations with Intune. Broadly, are we expecting the data in Intune to be 100% accurate? If the expectations of Intune data from Microsoft is less than 100% accurate, how is that addressed?

I'd love a link to Microsoft's policy on data reliability for Intune, and if that doesn't exist, what guides reliability expectations?

A specific example I'm thinking of: phones running a fork of Android that are still listed as an "Android OS", but it's really like ColorOS or FireOS. I'm not clear if this is considered an "error" on Intune's part or if it's correctly reporting what's on the fork of Android - which may be mis-labeled as "Android". I am considering Android OS to be the Google managed product vs. a product based on the Android OS.

Note: I did see the AI response to my post & between what I'm seeing in the data I have from Intune + the AI response that might be enough but I'd love to see an official policy/KBA from Microsoft stating that they do not guarantee Intune's accuracy if that exists - I know the AI says it doesn't but I'm asking on the off-chance it does exist - even as a general policy - but I have yet to find one myself :) . Thank you!

Microsoft Intune has built-in security and device features that manage Windows 10 and Windows 11 client devices, and it can help you keep your managed devices secure and up to date while helping you to protect your organization’s data from compromised devices. However, Microsoft does not provide an official policy on data reliability expectations with Intune. The accuracy of data in Intune depends on various factors, including the quality of data received from the device, the accuracy of the device information, and the accuracy of the data provided by third-party sources. Microsoft Intune does not guarantee 100% accuracy of data, but it provides tools to help you troubleshoot data issues. @--AIM-- , Thanks for posting in Q&A. Based on my researching, Both FireOS anf ColorOS are mobile operating system based on Android. And now, Intune only support the Android OS in the following link:

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mem/intune/fundamentals/supported-devices-browsers#android

I think it can be reason it can't distinguish to the more detailed operating system is. As what data we can collect is controlled by Google, you can feedback to Google support to see if we can get such detailed information from Android MDM API.

    Thanks for your understanding.
