I have a list of Microsoft lists in Sharepoint.

I have created a flow with Power Automate which is:

When an item is created or modified.
Update item.

But in the flow checker I get a warning: Actions in this flow may cause an infinite trigger loop. Be sure to add appropriate conditional checks to prevent this flow from triggering itself.

How could I prevent the infinite trigger loop from occurring?

when you use trigger based on modify, each additional modify obsiously triggers a flow to run again in a loop which you do not want

so one way to handle it is to use additional column/property that defines what should happen at next change, but there is a catch

initial value of this property (RunFlow) should be 1 (for a flow to run its payload when you create a new item)

the flow checks the RunFlow value via a condition

when the value is 1 it runs its payload and sets the value to 0 when updating the item

when the value is 0 it does nothing

but here is the catch: can you make sure that later item updates initiated from users will automaticaly update the RunFlow value to 1
in the past i used a power-apps form to achieve that but some coding will be required

would love to hear a better/simpler way to do it from anyone that knows how

I don't quite understand what you mean I should do, the problem is that what I want is to wait and initiate an approval, then when it gets to the update item action, it keeps sending approval requests for every minute and that's what I want to modify. The total flow would be:

When an element is created or modified.

Initiate and wait for an approval.

Condition: Result is equal to approved.

If not: Update element: Properties ---- null

In update element, being a sharepoint column would be that every time someone adds a number to the property column, send me a request for approval and if I reject that data is deleted, but the problem is that I am sending about 20 approval requests per minute because in update element appears an infinite loop.

As you can see, I have sent you a picture of the execution history (which are a few per minute) and my email where the requests arrive, but I only added a new value to the Value column where you see the number, the rest I have not modified anything, nor have I added several values at once or anything.
