Accessing Synapse (Private Endpoint) from Power BI Report via VNet Data Gateways

Hi,

I want to create a connection to Azure Synapse deployed with Private Endpoint from Power BI service. I have created VNet Gateway https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/data-integration/vnet/create-data-gateways Now I am looking for instructions on How to access the Synapse database from the Power BI report. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

To To create a connection to Azure Synapse deployed with Private Endpoint from Power BI service, you need to follow these steps:

Enable private endpoints for Power BI in the Azure portal

Create a private endpoint for Power BI.

Open your Azure Synapse workspace in Azure portal and select Private endpoint connection under Security

Select Connect to an Azure resource in my directory in the Resource tab.

Select the Subscription that contains your Azure Synapse workspace.

The Resource type for creating private endpoints to an Azure Synapse workspace is Microsoft.Synapse/workspaces. Select your Azure Synapse workspace as the Resource.

Every Azure Synapse workspace has three Target sub-resource that you can create a private endpoint to: Sql, SqlOnDemand, and Dev.

When the deployment is complete, open your Azure Synapse workspace in Azure portal and select Private endpoint connections. The new private endpoint and private endpoint connection name associated with the private endpoint are shown.

After completing these steps, you can connect to your Azure Synapse workspace using private links

to access the Synapse database from the Power BI report, you can use VNet Data Gateways

You need to create a virtual network (VNet) data gateway and then create a SQL datasource pointing to the view.

Solution: I was able to find the issue. I was using an differ Integration runtime. it is working now.
