Private Endpoint in Failed State

I tried to delete my resource group called intra which contained a cosmosdb, static web app, and the resources below that I could not delete.

A few resources got deleted however it fails to delete 3 resources:

  1. private endpoint
  2. nic
  3. virtual network

When I take a look at the private endpoint I see that it is in a Failed state. I have found online a documentation which suggests to run:

Get-AzPrivateEndpoint -ResourceGroupName intra -Name intra-prod-webapp-endpoint | Set-AzPrivateEndpoint

However I did not have luck with it, I got an error:

Set-AzPrivateEndpoint: Operation returned an invalid status code 'NotFound'

StatusCode: 404

ReasonPhrase:

ErrorCode: ResourceNotFound

ErrorMessage: Call to Microsoft.Web/staticSites failed. Error message: The Resource 'Microsoft.Web/staticSites/intra-prod-webapp' under resource group 'intra' was not found. For more details please go to https://aka.ms/ARMResourceNotFoundFix

    @Csaba Gura

    Thank you for reaching out.

I understand you are facing issue while deleting your private endpoint.

You can try steps below and see if you are able to delete the private endpoint resource.

    • In portal, go to the private endpoint
    • Click on the nic on the right
    • Click on the ip configurations on the left
    • Select the private endpoint IP config and click delete
    • Then click back in the browser/portal and delete the nic
    • Then try to delete the private endpoint, to see if that succeeds.

If the steps above do not help, I think a support request will be required in this case as a support engineer can request the backend team to help delete the resources. If you have a support plan you may file a support ticket, else could you please send an email to azcommunity@microsoft.com with the below details.
