Can MFA be used without SSPR

Hi Everyone,

I am interested in configuring Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on my Microsoft 365 account.

I have only ever seen Microsoft 365 accounts configured with both Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) and MFA but I'm wondering if it is possible to configure MFA without SSPR?

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Dave

SSPR is not required for MFA. SSPR can be disabled.

Log into Entra ID (Azure AD) with a user that has at least authenticator administrator rights, go down to password reset on the left, and then change password reset to none, or selected.  With selected you can have a group of people you wish to enable it for.

    1. Sign in to the Azure portal.
    2. Search for and select Azure Active Directory, then select Password reset from the menu on the left side.
    3. From the Properties page, under the option Self service password reset enabled, select None.
    4. To apply the SSPR change, select Save.
