NvidiaGpuDriverLinux Extension not deploying

I am trying to install the NvidiaGpuDriverLinux extension in my Linux (debian 12) VM of size Standard NC4as T4 v3 but the install process is stuck in "Deploying" and there is no information in any logs regarding what the problem is and why it is stuck. Any ideas regarding how to debug this issue?

    NvidiaGpuDriverLinux does not currently support Debian OS. A list of supported OS can be found here. You will need to manually install the driver. This recent thread goes over the manual instructions well.
