I have a Synapse Analytics data pipeline that all of sudden stopped working with an error message of: "Acquire Managed Identity token from Azure Active Directory failed. The certificate was expired."

This was setup by a 3rd party vendor and I have limited experience with Azure, but I haven't been able to track down where the certificate expiration exists. The managed identity that is being used is a system defined identity.

However, when I look at managed identities I do not see any records:

I was able to find the Synapse application from the 'Enterprise applications' section, but it says the certificate is managed by Microsoft.

Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

From the Synapse workspace, when test the connection of the linked services, I get the following:

  • Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (Test connection fails with error)
  • Azure Key Vault (Test connection is successful)
  • SQL Server (Test connection fails with error)
  • Azure Synapse Analytics (Test connection fails with error)

Appreciate any help!
