As track change feature is not available in Office Online Server, is there any alternatives to it for using word documents from SharePoint 2019?

Hello,

Currently using SharePoint 2019. I can understand that I cannot use track change feature using Office Online Server.

But is there any other way around for this? As my client needs to know which person changed specifically where in the word document file.

What if the client has E5 licensing?

Can I hybrid the SharePoint to connect it to office 365?

Hi,

Word for web includes a limited set of Track Changes features. As this article said, if you have the Word desktop application, use the Open in Word command to open the document and turn on track changes. When you’re done and you save the document, it will continue to be stored where you opened it in Word for the web. Tracked changes will be preserved and—if you turned on Track Changes before you opened the document in Word for the web—any changes you make in Word for the web will also be tracked.
