Hi, i need to change app service plan for an existing web app for containers. Current it is S1 and i need to scale down to B1. I have only production slot for the web app though 'scale out' option gives me this error : the site(s) exceed maximum numbers of slots allowed for the hosting plan. remove all deployment slots before scaling to a different mode. What is the easiest way to scale down? Thank you!

Hi Olena, On the Deployment slots blade of your web app, please make sure that there is only production slot. If any others are listed, you need to click on each one to view details of the slot, next click Delete, enter slot name, etc. I know you mentioned you only have production slot but please double-check and confirm. Okay, thanks. Please click Settings -- App service plan blade. On the Overview blade of the App service plan, there is an entry for App(s) / Slots. Does it show 0 for Slots? For example, if you have 1 app with 0 slots, it should show 1 / 0.

You may also click on Apps blade and it will show a list of Apps/Slots. There shouldn't be any in the list with Slot in Type column

if i click on App service plan i would see all the app service plans i have for microservices and a slot for webapp application which is not set for the application i am trying to downgrade. Thank you

When you are on your web app and attempt to downgrade, what you are in fact doing is attempting to downgrade the App Service Plan. That's why it says Scale up (App Service Plan)

In order to downgrade an App Service Plan to a lower level SKU, you have to discontinue using features that are not included in the lower SKU as well as be within any other limits of the lower SKU. In this case, you would need to stop using slots on any web app that is using the plan.

From your reply it seems you have another application in the same App Service Plan that is using slots, so that is why you are seeing the error message.

ok, i changed the plan just for one app out of 4 and i can see now that all the rest now have the same app plan which are for the same region. is the plan applied on region level for all applications deployed ? Thank you

When deploying a web app, you decide which App Service Plan it will use. It is up to you, in other words. If you wanted to you could have each web app reside in its own plan, or you could have multiple web apps residing in the same plan (subject to available resources and SKU limits).
