Are Xbox one only apps UWP apps?

Hi,

Games such as gears of war 2 are only available on Xbox and not pc, so are those games still UWP apps or a different kind of app?

    XBox development is not covered on Q&A. The Q&A UWP tag is specifically for desktop app development.

    Most games on XBox are written using the Game Develoment Kit (GDK). Membership in an XBox developer program is required.

    UWP apps and games may be published to the XBox without program membership.
