New Link Shared Deploy Wizrd shows eror for UNC path

Hello, Im trying to setup a link deployment share UNC path.
I enter in \ipaddress\DeploymentShare$ or \hostname\DeploymentShare$
when i select next in the wizard I get please fix all errors before continuing.

I have checked on the target server in bootstrap.ini the deployroot = \hostname\DeploymentShare$

I can only think its not connecting as the target server is not on the same domain as the source server.
Anyone have any ideas as how i can proceed without putting the target server on the same domain?
