With an Microsoft Azure Sponsorship subscription, I dont seem to be able to create resource groups from VS Code / CLI. Is this a limitation of the subscription?

I keep getting this error when trying to create a new Azure function from VS Code but no problem creating this from the Azure portal:

Error: Provider "/subscriptions/XXYYZZ/providers/Microsoft.Resources" does not have resource type "resourceGroups".

Dom Pitot Thanks for posting your question in Microsoft Q&A. We have an open issue: Cannot create Azure Function similar to your description and currently being investigated. Have you already tried to unregister and reregister namespace Microsoft.Resources for your subscription as described in this comment? If so, share the resource providers details after re-register (also in the GitHub issue). That would be very helpful in investigating the issue and find the cause.

If it doesn't help, let me know (we can connect offline).
