The model GPT-4 1106-preview is not GPT-4 Turbo?

We have deployed Azure GPT-4 with version 1106-Preview, which according to the documentation should be GPT-4 Turbo.

We have also used OpenAI GPT-4 Turbo, which has a very detailed and acceptable response. However, the response from the Azure GPT-4 Turbo was very short and not detailed compared to the OpenAI response.

Is Azure GPT-4 Turbo the same version as OpenAI GPT-4 Turbo?

Please note, GPT-4 1106-preview is GPT-4 Turbo.

To deploy GPT-4-Turbo from the Studio UI, select version 1106-preview. Version 1106-preview has separate quota from the existing versions of GPT-4, enabling customers to start experimenting with it immediately without impacting existing GPT-4 deployments.

Here are some of the features it provides:

GPT-4 Turbo model offers lower pricing, extended prompt length, tool use, and structured JSON formatting, delivering improved efficiency and control. .

GPT-4 Turbo is more capable and has knowledge of world events up to April 2023. It has a 128K context window so your applications benefit from a lot more custom data tailored to your use case using techniques like RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation). .

GPT-4 Turbo is available to all Azure OpenAI customers immediately. GPT-4 Turbo pricing is 3x most cost effective for input tokens and 2x more cost effective for output tokens compared to GPT-4, while offering more than 15x the context window.

Thank you for your response.

We have deployed GPT-4 1106-Preview for three days (as shown in the figure). We ran tasks with the same parameters (prompts, temperatures) on OpenAI GPT-4 Turbo and Azure GPT-4 Turbo and compared the responses.

The comparison shows that OpenAI responses are richer and longer than Azure responses, while Azure responses are always shorter and simpler.

How should we get OpenAI-like responses on Azure GPT-4 Turbo?

We deployed "1106-Preview" and when prompted with "how recent is your knowledge?" we get the response

"As an AI language model, my knowledge is up to date until September 2021. I do not have the ability to access or retrieve information beyond that time. If you have questions about events or developments after that date, I recommend checking the latest sources or websites for the most current information."

gpt4-turbo should return April 2023

Azure OpenAI GPT-4 1106-preview is same as OpenAI GPT-4 Turbo.

Input context token is 128k but output is max tokens I think around 4096, it’s the same in OpenAI GPT-4 Turbo also.

About the knowledge I think OpenAI add’s a system message something like “Your knowledge has been up to April 2023” otherwise all of them hallucinate, even older GPT-4 also. So you need to pass this sentance and it works.
