Deploying Slack from Microsoft Store (New) With InTune

Ray Souza 0 Reputation points

We were previously installing Slack from the old Microsoft Store for Business with InTune, it was being installed as system, not user.

I created a new package/installer from the new microsoft store and set it to install as system as well.

When I point it to a machine that has the old store app installed it gives "cannot install toast notifications" over and over on the target machine.

I was assuming it would recognize that it was already installed and just skip that machine.

If I change it to install as user I get no notifications and it skips the machine showing a status of installed.

I would rather install it as system so it's available right after provisioning and have it ignore machines that it's already installed on.

Any help would be appreciated Thanks

@Ray Souza, Thanks for posting in Q&A. For the Slack. if the old store app is already installed on a machine, and the new package/installer is set to install as system, it will not recognize that it is already installed and will attempt to install it again. This will result in the "cannot install toast notifications" error message.

You can find an affected device, manually uninstall the previous software and see if the new software can be installed. If it can work, then you can find if there's any PowerShell command or script to uninstall the software. If yes, then we can do it via PowerShell script in Intune to bulk uninstall them, then install the new one in Microsoft store new.

Hope the above information can help.
