MAUI WebView save / autofill login data

On my .NET MAUI project (Android) I'm using a WebView to access a webpage, wehere I'm able to log in on a login form. Now what I'm looking for is a way to autofill the username / password fields, when I already logged in in another session, so saving the username and password like a regular browser would do. I found this but I don't know how to access it. Is there an easy solution for my problem?

Hello,

CoreWebView2 works with the Edge browser for the Windows platform. For Android, you can not call the methods of it.

For scenarios related to user login, the more recommended solution is to let the browser remember the account through cookies. MAUI provides an official API for setting cookies.

Alright thank you for the explanation. But one thing is still unclear to me: How do I read the input values from the form in my code behind and also how do I set the values back to the input form after I read them from the cookies?

You can't access the password of an account entered by a user when they log in from an external website, which is a privacy hack.

The purpose of cookies is to keep the user's logged-in state, and generally speaking, when cookies are enabled, the logged-in state will be maintained for a certain period of time in the supporting cookies.

The automatic filling of account passwords, which involves user privacy, is typically handled at the system level. For instance, certain systems provide password vaults, or browsers themselves offer this functionality. However, when it comes to WebViews within programs, you should refrain from recording user privacy information.
