- This item cannot be displayed in the Reading Pane. Open the item to read its contents" Does the error occur when you open a specific email or all emails?
- Did you make any changes to your computer before this problem occurred?
Based on my research, this error message usually occurs when the email message is corrupted or when there is an issue with the Outlook profile. Here are some steps that you can try to resolve the issue:
- Run Outlook in Safe Mode: This will help you determine if the issue is caused by an add-in. To do this, right-click the Start button, click Run, type Outlook.exe /safe, and click OK. If there is no problem in safe mode, the issue might be related to some add-ins and they will need to be disabled.
- Update Office: Make sure that your Office is up-to-date. Click on File, select Office Account and choose yours. Click on Update Options and hit the Update Now button.
- Repair Outlook Data Files: Corrupted files can also cause this issue. You can run a repair and check the results. Please refer to this article for more information: Repair Outlook Data Files (.pst and .ost)
