MCM 2309 - Client machine failed to apply power management setting after update the client agent

Hi,

We just in-place upgrade the MCM server from 2207 to 2309, and start to use push client to update the client agent.

However, we found many update clients failed to apply the power management setting (configure in collection) after update client agent.

Any idea?

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Q&A forum.

Group Policy will override any Power Management settings, make sure we do not have any conflicting group policy.

And check if we set the option "Allow users to exclude their devices from power management" to Yes.

Hi @AllenLiu-MSFT

I checked no GPO setting override MCM power management setting.

And the setting is work fine before. It not work after I upgrade (uninstall and install again) the client agent.

Have we checked PwrProvider.log on the clients?

By the way, SCCM power Management doesn't work on virtual Machines.

I checked the pwrmgmt.log, some client recoded the collection setting successful. But the problem client don’t have these record.

Some of the clients don't have the PwrProvider.log.

All of them are physical machine, not VM.

After some testing, seems when I enable the option "uninstall client ........." in push client wizard, most (not all) of the client cannot applied the power management setting. If I re-push the client (and disable the "uninstall client...." option, the power setting can apply to client.

Is it normal behavior?

It seems a strange behavior and I don't think it's normal, you may open a support ticket to verify if it is an issue related to MECM 2309 client upgrade.

Confirm with MS support and this is a bug on the MECM 2309.
