"Add and Scan Devices" of Storage Migration Service shows Failed Files on a File Share.

I am testing on Microsoft Storage Migration Service for migrating a very old Server 2008 32bit file server to a Server 2022.

I spun up a Server 2022 and installed it with the latest Windows Admin Center, went up to the process of "Add and Scan Devices". The result showed one failed file for one of the two network shares that I wanted to transfer. Please see the image.Screenshot 2023-12-18 090752.png

It appeared I could not find what was that failed file. Is there any way to tell at this stage or do I have to wait till completing the File Transfer stage to export the respective logs to tell?

I want to ensure no error on those two network shares before entering the File Transfer stage. If that is not possible, at least I need to be able to tell what that failed file was before proceeding to the next step.

Please advise.

    Hi,

There will be an option to save the Error log (as CSV).

Events under below would be helpful:

Application and Services Logs \ Microsoft \ Windows \ StorageMigrationService

Application and Services Logs \ Microsoft \ Windows \ StorageMigrationService-Proxy
