Office Account inforce add a authenticator method

Question

Hi,

In the past last weeks, users required to add another authentication method, and the only method they can choose is authenticator app.

All of our licenses are premium licenses.

The security defaults is disable on Entra, and the MFA is set per user.

I have 5 employees that don't have a smartphone so they can't use authenticator app.

In the past they worked with those two methods:

1. Phone number
2. App password

Is there any reason it happen ?

Can I change the settings for specific users?
