We have a vendor providing us with Direct routing for Teams phone.

Vendor is advising us to add a domain from a FQDN that they use to our M365 tenant domains , which will be required while adding the SBC in our MS Team admin page. Vendor will add the TXT records on their end for the domain to be verified. During the domain addition in M365 we will be deselecting all the online services such as "Exchange", "Skype for business", etc.

We currently have Hybrid setup with mailboxes in Exchange online. Will this new domain result in addition of email aliases for this new domain for all existing users.

How does exchange online calculate email aliases for new users?

    Hello @curious7 ,

    Welcome to our forum!

It is understood that adding a new domain to Microsoft 365 tenants will not automatically create email aliases for all existing users.

For new users, considering that you are hybrid environment, the Email address policies is only applicable to on-premises, and it is not available in Exchange Online. Therefore, Exchange Online doesn’t automatically calculate email aliases. It may need to manually add aliases to the new user.
