Using entra ID to create a user for microsoft windows log in with my company domain

So my poor IT guy is no longer available and he set up our company on azure and I am trying to add a few new users. I tried reading directions but maybe I am just an idiot. Our company domain is on entra ID and I see all the users. I added the new user but when I went to add her as a user on computer it said their is no such microsoft account with that email. Example ******@companyname.com it says no account. Am I doing something wrong?

The message you provided which is "account doesn't exist" usually happens only if the account has been closed, or there is a typo on the email address. Could you please check and let us know is the same users is able to access the Microsoft account via browser? and check the Sign-In Logs for any errors or issues related to the user. Also, can you please check the status of the account and reset the password for the user account and try to login with UPN which you see in the Entra ID.
