Sharepoint Copy Link URLs changing after a period of time

I have files stored in a Sharepoint directory. In an excel spreadsheet, I have links to specific files/folders within this this Sharepoint. To date I have used the copy link function, pasted as a URL into cells in excel. This has worked fine. Now the URLs seem to have changed, and the links no longer work. I understand that I can link using the file path, but rather than taking me to a URL, this just downloads the file it links to. It strikes me as a big issue that these Copy link URLs do not remain the same over time - what's the point in having this feature if it is unusable after a week or two? I understand the alternative option to copy path, but having to download the file each time is tedious and wasteful, rather than opening in a separate tab as with copy link. This method renders the online storage, and non-duplication of files feature of Sharepoint redundant.

When clicking copy link button, you will get a link which is a sharing link of document. This link contains sharing permission, so it will become invalid after a while.

Per my test, I create an embedded link by using file path in the excel, when I click the embedded link, it opens the link in the browser.

Whether files are stored in the SharePoint server or SharePoint online? Which browser are you using?

Try to add "?web=1" at the end of file path, then click the embedded link in the excel. URL looks like https://tenant.sharepoint.com/sites/emilytestnew/Shared%20Documents/1.docx?web=1
